London Design Fair 2016 Acrylic Lamps

We have been very busy developing a new acrylic lighting collection. We will be launching the new collection at the London Design Festival on September 22nd (Stand F11). The new ‘Primitive’ collection is based on bold primitive shapes. Featuring milky white Perspex® acrylic and brushed brass. The lights are designed by Jon Thomas and are made in our workshop in Wales. They follow in the modernism style of design which Jon is a big fan of.

There will be two lights on display from the primitive lighting collection on the stand, our .02 ‘Flight pendant light a geometric hexagon shaped pendant light. And our new .03 ‘Centric circle light’ (inspired by Kandinsky ‘Upper 1929’ painting.

Both pendant lights are made from Perspex® acrylic sheets. The challenge for both designs was turning a 2-d sheet material into a workable 3-d design. After all a light must be function-able as well as decorative!

We achieved this by overlapping the shards of Perspex® acrylic at certain angles which hide the bulb and only reveal it at a very small angle. Much testing and model making was done to create just enough overlap to achieve this. Our Instagram page includes much of this development, please feel free follow us to see more of our products journey from concept to production!

You can see two sketches on this page for both of the lights which we will add to this site during the launch….this is your sneak peak! The brass spacers pictured are all hand cut and then drilled by hand in the workshop. We use British materials and are proud to use local suppliers and manufacturers in all our products.

Acrylic Lighting CollectionPlease come by and say hi if your visiting the show! The 4 days are for trade visitors and the last 2 days are also for public.  We would love to hear your feedback as always and if your interested in any of our designs  they will be available for sale over the last 2 days.

Not forgetting our wallpaper..we will have the giant 4m Patina XL design on one of the walls…
